"Color, definition, and paper are fantastic and beyond expectations!"

Rare-Prints Gallery owner Ben Frishman

Detail from plate 311, the American White Pelican

Definition is sharpness and contrast between contiguous parts of the artwork.   The reason Princeton facsimile definition is far beyond expectation is our unique capture process.  The actual originals were purchased and carefully photographed by a huge, wall-mounted camera using film the same size as the print!  This is a one to one capture of detail, the absolute highest standard. Then this highly detailed image was transferred to the mechanical printing plates.  Furthermore, we printed on a 300 line, meaning 300 tiny dots of ink would fit along a one inch line.  No other Audubon facsimiles have ever been produced using this method. Its like HDTV versus regular TV.
